This course is offered in a dynamic hybrid format, combining engaging online content with hands-on in-studio training to solidify your knowledge. To obtain your mat and reformer Pilates qualification, you’ll complete over 250 hours of comprehensive learning, which includes:

· 11 days of in-person learning spread across 4 weekends in Melbourne, Victoria

· 20 hours of observation

· 40 hours of practice teaching

· 60 hours of self practice

Learning Goals

Understand the evolution, concepts, and principles of Pilates.
Recognise spine and pelvis positions, posture, and neutral spine.
Understand and be able to apply fundamental anatomy, including planes of movement, movement terminology, and the skeletal and muscular systems.
Familiarise yourself with the structure and function of key body systems
Master a variety of mat and reformer exercises with proper form and alignment.
Be able to identify modifications and progressions for all mat and reformer exercise repertoire.
Learn the roles, responsibilities, and communication skills required for Pilates instructors.
Grasp principles for programming supportive and effective Pilates sessions, including cueing, sequencing, and hands on assists.
Explore career opportunities in the Pilates industry and the importance of ongoing professional development.

Course Overview

Module 1 - Foundations of Pilates:

Understand the concept and evolution of Pilates.
Explore the historical background of Pilates.
Identify the guiding principles of Pilates practice.
Identify the guiding principles of Pilates practice.

Module 2 - Overview of Anatomy:

Familiarise yourself with body planes and directional terminology.
Understand movement terminology and regional terms.

Module 3 - Spine Curvature, Neutral Spine, and Postures:

Recognise different spine and pelvis positions.
Define posture and neutral spine.
Understand functional movement and causes of imbalance.

Module 4 - The Skeletal System:

Summarise components and functions of the skeletal system.
Differentiate between axial and appendicular skeletons.
Identify types of joints in the skeletal system.

Module 5 - The Muscular System:

Understand types of muscle contractions.
Identify muscles of the upper and lower limbs, pelvic floor, head, face, neck, vertebral column, and core.

Module 6 - Other Human Body Systems:

Understand the structure and function of the circulatory, respiratory, nervous, digestive, and endocrine systems.
Identify interconnections and interactions between these systems.

Module 7 - Working with Clients:

Understand roles, responsibilities, and scope of practice for Pilates instructors.
Learn effective communication skills and client management techniques.

Module 8 - Mat Exercise Library:

Master a variety of mat exercises targeting different muscle groups and movement patterns.
Understand proper form and alignment for each exercise.

Module 9 - Reformer Exercise Library:

Master a variety of reformer exercises targeting different muscle groups and movement patterns.
Understand proper form and alignment for each exercise.

Module 10 - Programming and Teaching Guide:

Grasp essential principles for programming Pilates sessions.
Develop proficiency in cueing, sequencing, and adjusting exercises.
